rubbing alcohol.and gave them a good wipe down to get them nice and clean.
Mine were actually a bit crusty and rusty too but you’ll see that it didn’t matter at all.I like rubbing alcohol because it does a great job of cleaning but evaporates quickly so you can get to painting right away.. Painting the Vent Covers.It’s painting time!
I used Krylon satin finish spray paint in.I did 4 light coats with about 5 minutes of drying time in between.
2 coats coming from one direction, and then 2 coming from the other direction to get under all the slanted bits.
There’s no need to do the sides since they’ll be hiding inside the hole.I also decided to get a little creative with it and added in a few drops of essential oil.
I thought I would use something fresh-smelling, but that also has some cleaning/bad stuff-killing properties, so I used tea tree oil.Some people really hate the smell, but I think it smells nice and fresh.
Cinnamon oil would be a good choice too.. Everything got tossed together in a big mason jar and mixed up really well..The next step is just to sprinkle it over the area you want to clean and leave it on for an hour.. You can also take a cloth and rub it in a bit, but I didn’t.
